King Of Kong, Billy Mitchell, returns with a new Donkey Kong high score

Billy Mitchell returns with a new Donky Kong high score
Donkey Kong champ reaches his previously contested (and deleted) scores on live stream.
Under allegations of cheating, Billy Mitchell's scores were wiped from the Twin Galaxies boards. For as long as I can remember, he's been a legend in the World of video games - and hot sauce, if you're into that here's a review. Not long ago, his high scores on Donkey Kong came under fire and were ultimately wiped from the records.

Billy Mitchell high score tweet Then a tweet shows up in which Mitchell has live streamed himself achieving 1,050,100 on Donkey Kong. Is the King Of Kon back? It's the high-schore comeback nobody asked for. Mitchell's flamboyant and brash demeanor separate folks into those who like him and those who hate him - not a lot of middle ground seems to exist.

Some say these new scores validate his former achievements, while others say he cheated before and that's all that matters. I'm not really into this sort of competition. Regardless of one's opinion of Billy Mitchell, they guy has gaming skills. He can play most games longer than I can sleep!.

I'm sure the growing E-Sports sector has strict rules and regulations, but high score games on 80's arcade cabinets isn't regulated in the strictest sense. It's a shame social media drives us toward praise or condemnation, as though every condition can be assessed on a Pass/ Fail basis.

Most folks are ready to judge and convict based on reading a headline. They won't even read the article. I'm not a fan of Mitchell, but I can freely admit he has serious gaming skills. It will be interesting to see where this new high score story goes. Will he be vindicated? Will his past dictate his fate?
