Long ago, this Los Angeles realtor was the girl behind The Knack's “My Sharona”

There really was a Sharona
There really was a girl named Sharona behind the megahit song on The Knack's debut album!
Sharona Alperin I love that song. My Sharona. Actually, The Knack's 1979 debut album, Get The Knack, was a great album. It's full of memorable songs, but My Sharona from it's beat to that mysterious name, was epic. I remember listening to it decades ago when everyone was listening to it.

The Knack's lead singer Doug Fieger wrote the song for Sharona Alperin, a teenager who would later become his girlfriend. Their relationship didn't last, but they did stay in touch over the years up to Fieger's death in 2010. She became somewhat of a celebrity in her own right, but not everyone knew it. She is the model on the cover of the single "My Sharona" wearing the iconic tank top and jeans, with the album under her arm.

Today she is a realtor in Los Angeles. In an interview she recalls the first time she heard her name in that infamous song. So, if I were in her shoes, I'd have that song playing in the background - everywhere I went - everywhere. Always. How cool is it that there really is a Sharona behind that song!?!
