Sega's Yakuza Kiwami 2 preserves Virtua Fighter 2 and Virtual On in Kamurocho's entertainment district

Sega's Yakuza Kiwami 2
Retro game preservation comes in many forms and we love what Sega has done with the Yakuza series.
I was familiar with the Yakuza series of games from Sega, but had not played them until stumbling across a Kotaku article about a few hidden gems. I began with Yakuza Kiwami 2 because of the game within a game it contains. The main game primarily revolves around a fictional version of Tokyos entertainment district and offers some great side-play.

Within the main game, Club Sega has been offering retro games for quite some time in the Yakuza series of video games. When I read about Yakuza Kiwami 2 offering Virtual On, I was stoked. My son and I play this game at a local arcade in the summers. It's dual joystick head-to-head play is a ton of fun! Versions were released for the Sega Saturn and Dreamcast, but I haven't come across a copy yet.

I like the way Sega has approached this "hidden retro game" scenario. It fits so naturally in the entertainment districts of the Yakuza games. I'd love to see more of this treatment in other games by other developers.
