The orange tracks of Hot Wheels are getting an official Mario Kart makeover via a new Nintendo partnership
Coming later this Summer, Hot Wheels will offer three different Nintendo inspired track sets and die-cast cars!
Mattel and Nintendo are partnering on a new line of Hot Wheels vehicles and track sets with a Mario Kart theme. According to the news there will be three tracks, that I presume can be combined into an insane layout!
This new partnership will debut at San Diego Comic Con and be available from retailers in the late summer. Initially the die-cast cars will include Mario, Yoshi, Luigi and Bowser. Princess Peach, Koopa Troop and Toad will follow later. The three track sets are named:
Piranha Plant Slide Track Set
Thwomp Ruins Track Set
Hot Wheels Mario Kart Circuit Track Set
My son and I used to create some crazy tracks from our stash of loops, jumps and accessories. We used to spend hours determining which cars were fastest and performed the best tricks. A Nintendo-themed set wold have been so cool. We may have to revert our interests and pretend we haven't out-grown Hot Wheels and test some of these new releases. All the new tracks and cars are compatible with older sets, so the sky's the limit!
