Here's a look at Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft in next year's Tomb Raider film

Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft
Warner Bros. released the first official photo of Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft in its upcoming Tomb Raider film.
Not too much is known as the film won't release until March of 2018. It's being said the film was influenced by the recent Rise of the Tomb Raider video game and portrays Lara's human side. One quote mentioned depicting her a an extraordinary person rather than a superhero.

Lara Croft 20 Year Anniversary logo With the vast number of video games spanning both time and a variety of platforms, I tend to forget there have only been two Tomb Raider films. Both starred Angelina Jolie, but the upcoming film marks nearly 15 years since 2003's Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life and 2001's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

Its a year away, but its high time Lara came back to the big screen... and maybe to Nintendo's Switch!

From a GQ interview with Vikander:
We drew a lot of inspiration and reference from the game and the entire Tomb Raider canon to develop our world, and I believe fans will recognize that. At the same time, this is a completely different theatrical approach to Lara Croft that will offer something new in the origin and development of the character. It's a story that not only highlights her incredible physical accomplishments but delves deeper into her humanity.
