Winterbauer's upcoming video game box art book has fascinating behind the scenes introspectives

Classic Game Covers, Confessions of An Art Junkie
Grand works of art were commissioned in the 80s & 90s to set games apart and visually depict their style on retail shelves.
As a working artist for thirty years Mike Winterbauer is most known for his illustrations gracing the box covers of many computer and console games. Many of his works have been gathered into a book that also details some of his process with some great insights into the artist himself.

Classic Game Covers, Confessions of An Art Junkie Distinctive game titles like Wing Commander, Solstice, WolfChild and Power Blade show his bold style. These and many others are showcased in his book, Classic Game Covers, Confessions of An Art Junkie. As much as it's a visual look at his artwork, the book contains great stories about how some of the commissions came about and how he went about executing the various styles.

Full of anecdotal tales - friends photographed him in reference poses - his video game box art book has already reached it's funding goal on Kickstarter campaign.

This soft-cover edition of his book is the official printed release of a previously released e-book. When it comes to retro gaming box art, we want a coffee table book, not a PDF.
