Shantae Half-Genie Hero (Risky Beats Edition) comes in a cool retro-style box for the PS4
The retro box-style packaging for Shantae's PS4 release is very reminiscent of my Atari and NES days. It makes a terrific package!
Rarely does my excitement about a video game revolve around it's packaging, but Shantae Half-Genie Hero comes in a marvelous cardboard box via the Risky Beats Edition! Knowing nothing of this release, I saw the box on the rack at GameStop and naturally the packaging grabbed my attention.
Reminiscent of the boxed cartridge games for Atari and Nintendo, I used to fawn over on retail shelves. I HAD to have this. Completely put a smile on my face!
Shantae and her powerful pony tail go back as far as the Game Boy Color in 2002 via WayForward Technologies and was revived on Nintendo's 3DS Virtual Console in 2013. It's become a well received platformer, but never seems to reach the sellar heights is should.
She has appeared on all of Nintendo's handhelds since the GBC and onward through the 3DS. This is the first HD adventure coming to modern consoles - PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Windows, and Xbox One. Interestingly, it was the result of a Kickstarter campaign. I'm stoked to jump into this platformer!
